Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of NAMI Seattle! Your gift of time and talent keeps our programs free and available to anyone who needs them. You can make a difference.

General Expectations for Volunteers

We ask that you be committed to NAMI’s vision of a world where all those impacted by mental illness know they are not alone, and are empowered to live a fulfilling life. Unlearning the damaging stereotypes and stigma around mental health that we may have grown up with can take time, and we ask that you engage in continued learning and introspection in this area.

We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, immigration status, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, visible and invisible disabilities, or any other demographic factor, and encourage people from a wide variety of backgrounds to be part of NAMI. We expect our volunteers to respect all identities and will periodically offer cultural competency workshops as part of continuing education for volunteers.

We would like volunteers to be able to commit to at least a year at NAMI Seattle (although we understand the many factors that come up in life – we will do our best to work with your availability and whatever time you are able to give). Please fill out our Volunteer Application for any of the below opportunities or general interest in volunteering.
